| | | | | Water power | The Ume River and the the river system is situated in the Southern Lapland and the county of Vasterbotten (north Sweden) including Juktan River, the Lais River and Vindeln River, the two later free-flowing tributary.
The catchment area of Ume River covers 16,800 km2 and consists of river reaches and lakes, and goes from the lake Överuman on the border between Norway and Sweden, and empties into the Gulf of Bothnia near the city of Umeå with a discharge/volume of 450 m3/s. The main river channel of the Ume River is about 470 km long, falling from about 520 m above the sea level at the lake Överuman, to the sea level. The highest mountain in the catchment (Norra Storfjället) reaches 1,767 m above sea level.
